Caterpillar Locks Out Canadian Workers

Caterpillar(CAT) says it has locked out union workers at a train locomotive plant in London, Ontario, according to a published media report.

Caterpillar said it would bar the union workers from the Electro-Motive Canada plant until "a ratified contract is in place," said the report, which was published on The Wall Street Journal's Web site.The last contract expired at the end of 2011, the report noted, and negotiations have failed to yield a new contract, the report noted. The workers at the plant are represented by the Canadian Auto Workers union.Shares of Caterpillar closed Friday up 2 cents at $90.60.> > Bull or Bear?
