OmniVision Gains: Cramer Cites Shares As Play On iPhone 4

OmniVision (OVTI) shares are trading higher this morning, apparently getting a boost from a bullish discussion of the stock by Jim Cramer on Mad Money on Friday afternoon. Cramer singled out the image sensor company as a beneficiary of the strong demand for the Apple (AAPL) iPhone 4. (What he didn’t know at the time, of course, is that Apple through Saturday has sold 1.7 million units of the new phone.)

Cramer noted that the company supplies sensors to both the iPhone and to the HTC EVO, the 4G phone now on sale through Sprint (S).

Other Apple 4 plays, he noted, include Cirrus Logic (CRUS) and ARM Holdings (ARMH).

In today’s trading:

  • OVTI is up 72 cents, or 3.2%, to $23.33.
  • CRUS is down 16 cents, or 1%, to $16.60.
  • ARMH is down 8 cent, or 0.6%, to $12.71.
