Semiconductor chemicals and materials market leaders continue to hold onto razor thin leadership positions, with exchange rates can play a big part, according to the report “Chemicals and Materials for Sub-100 nm IC Manufacturing,” recently published by The Information Network.
Market share differences between the top two leaders in these four major chemical and material sectors are less than 3.4%. In three out of the four sectors, the top leaders are in different countries, so swings in exchange rates will readily tip the scale.
European companies benefited from a week euro and gained 0.5% market share in exchange rates. Japanese companies lost nearly a 0.7% share because of a strong Yen in 2010.
